Where is Punta Trettu and How to get it
Punta Trettu, in the south west of Sardinia, is located near the village of Matzaccara, in the municipality of San Giovanni Suergiu.
Punta Trettu is away approximately 85 km from Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia. To reach Punta Trettu from Cagliari, get the S.S. 130 to Carbonia, then continue to the village of Matzaccara and finally to Punta Trettu. When you are on the last road to Punta Trettu, long approximately 2 kilometers, you will arrive to Punta Trettu, first kite school you will find, on the left is the Punta Trettu Kite Center Sardinia, located in its white Kitesurf House in front of the sea.

Many expert kiters say that Punta Trettu has the same level of the Brazilian lagoons, due to the great winds that are blowing here and to the flat water! Kite Zones at Punta Trettu Sardinia
Once at the Punta Trettu Kite Beach, the first thing you can admire is the view, that allows to see at the same time the bridge that connects the island of Sant’Antioco to Sardinia, the town and the island of Sant’Antioco, Calasetta, the island of Carloforte, the Isola Piana and Portoscuso.
Anyway, in Punta Trettu, kitesurfing is allowed only at the Punta Trettu Kite Beach, that is far more or less 700 m by walk from the small harbor.
In the big space on the water, that can accommodate many kites in safety, there are two kite zones: one kite zone for teaching reserved to the official kiteschool of Punta Trettu and one kite zone for independent riders. The two kite zones are ideally divided by a strip of really stallow water. Near the kite spot there is a navigation channel where kitesurfing is absolutely forbidden as it is reserved to the boats going to or coming from the port of Sant’Antioco. This boat channel is identified by some signal poles.
On the beach the area defined for launching and landing the kites is near some trees that can cause some problem . Pay attention!
From October to March there is a particular local fishing and therefore it is necessary to respect the fishing areas, which are identified by buoys with flags.
Winds in Punta Trettu Sardinia
The conformation of the Kite Spot of Punta Trettu makes it a very safe spot in all wind conditions: Mistral (North-West), Scirocco (South-East) are the best winds in Punta Trettu, but also but also Ponente (west) and Levate (east) are fine. Temperatures in Punta Trettu Sardinia
In Punta Trettu, the water temperature is generally between 15 degrees (winter) and 25 degrees (summer).
Air tempertaure is between 10 degrees (January) and 30 degrees (August).
Anyway, due to the windchill effect, the perceived temperature can be much lower. For this reason, it is suggeste to wear always a wetsuits for kiting in Punta Trettu: 5-4 mm wetsuit in the colder seasron, 3-2 mm / 2 mm wetsuits in the warmer season.
